Maternal Services
The Institute for Medicaid Innovation reported in 2020 that community-based maternal support, such as doulas and community health workers in Medicaid populations, consistently results in positive health outcomes for mothers and newborns while reducing costs.
GHN will build community capacity by funding Promotoras and doulas in American Viticultural Areas. This community-based workforce will serve marginalized populations where they live and work, help navigate to a medical home, improving health outcomes and decrease healthcare spending by deterring non-emergent Emergency Department utilization.
